For Parents:
Welcome to Leto High School Driver Education. We are welcoming you because you are a big part of our program. You are the best teacher to ensure proper driving habits for your child. Their road to becoming a safe driver starts with us and ends with your supervision of their driving. The purpose of this section is to familiarize you with what is expected of your child and how to can help them achieve academic success. Please look over the course syllabus with your child and help them do the following:

1) Complete the driver education checklist.
2) Make sure your child gets his/her learners permit (they must have this to pass the class!).
3) You can keep track of your child’s classwork grade, driving grade and range grade by taking a look at your child’s assignment sheet.
4) Let your child drive as often as possible and record his/her driving on the driving log sheet. DO NOT wait until your child finishes the class to allow them to drive. A few hours in a parking lot are acceptable.
5) Review your child’s course syllabus and be familiar with how your child earns a grade in Driver Education.
6) Make sure your child turns in his/her $40 as soon as possible.

We hold our students accountable for their academic achievement. They will need your help in passing this class. By making you aware of this responsibility, we also hope to involve you in shaping you child’s driving habits. We believe that when a good partnership exists between parent and student driver the result is a safe, responsible teenager ready for the self-discipline it takes to be a good driver.

Please keep track of your student’s attendance and participation in the class. You have all of the tools to monitor your child’s grade. By signing this letter you are notifying us that you have carefully reviewed the syllabus and that your child understands his/her commitment to this class. If you ever have any questions or want an update on your child’s progress please call the Driver Education Department at
