Our Students Get the Help they Need

AS A FRESHMAN & SOPHOMORE
All incoming AVID students will be given opportunities to jump-start their college readiness.  During your first two years in the AVID program you will take part in AVID classes, meet regularly with tutors, explore possible career paths and develop important friendships with other AVID students.  Students in all four grades will be offered numerous opportunities to visit and explore different college options.
AS A JUNIOR & SENIOR
In your last two years of high school the AVID program will help guide you through each of the steps you will need to enter and succeed in college.   The curriculum includes: SAT and ACT preparation, visiting campuses, help with college selection and applications, applying for scholarships, finding opportunities for community service, and support in advanced placement classes.

What People are Saying

“...what AVID shows is that high minority achievement can be more ordinary when schools not only insist on academic rigor but also offer personal support.  AVID offers a blueprint for this scaffolding.”
        - Richard Rothstein, New York

AVID has consistently provided a super highway to achievement for more than 30,000 students. With 95% of the participating students continuing onto college there is not doubt that AVID is making a difference in our schools and our children’s lives.”

     - Assembly member George A. Plesica
             75, California State Assembly
